Fresh Designs From Amy Butler

Amy Butler began her career as a designer back in the 1980s, when she began handcrafting small bags that she sold to stores in the Kansas City area. She then went on to become a magazine editor, but never forgot her love of creating her own unique designs and returned to the full time pursuit of that ambition some ten years later.

She first gained considerable attention and an excellent reputation in the design world for her unique and extraordinary bedding and fabric designs, but recently Amy Butler rugs have taken center stage alongside them.

All Amy Butler rugs are individually handcrafted according to her exacting specifications by a family run company Chandra, which is based in Atlanta, GA . Each rug is made only from 100% New Zealand wool,  which explains their gorgeous texture and warm feel and all of them are individually cut and dyed by expert craftspeople. The overall construction is of an excellent standard and Amy Butler rugs have gained a reputation for being as resilient as they are beautiful.

Each of the nineteen or so Amy Butler rugs that are currently available showcases a different aspect of the artist’s aesthetic and draws its inspiration from a different place or theme. Each one is intricately  hand sculptured – with just a pair of scissors – and the graphic motifs are original and eye popping without being too overpowering.

The color palettes and combinations  found in Amy Butler rugs run the gamut from the palest baby blues and sensual smoky grays to bright and bold reds and burgundies and in combinations that would complement almost any contemporary décor.

Flowers play a huge rule in the Amy Butler rugs collection but not in an old fashioned, cutesy way. These blooms are bold and each has an individual flair that could literally change the tone and appearance of an entire room in just the time it takes to put them in place.
